JOEY HOLDER
Adcredo – The Deep Belief Network, 2018
Taking a fictional data-analysis company called Adcredo as her starting point, Holder explores the role that online networks can play in the construction of belief. In Adcredo (Latin for ‘to put trust in’), we see avatars of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Kanye West, and Paypal-founder and Facebook’s first investor Peter Thiel alongside otherworldly creatures based on conspiracy theory and synchromysticism.
The installation is part of a larger project in which a fictional world is created against the (all too real) backdrop of fake news, conspiracy theory, cyber espionage, and political populism. How is our worldview affected by the rise of unjust ideologies and fantasies?
