Daito Manabe & Squarepusher
Terminal Slam, 2020
This music video shows you a glimpse of Tokyo in the near future. Through a pair of glasses, the protagonist sees an alternative reality, in which the busy district Shibuya transforms into a fine network of chaotic, glitchy visuals. Daito Manabe took film material of the busy streets and underground, futuristic tunnels of Shibuya and used AI software to recognize and label all the people and omnipresent advertising space. The AI makes the people glitch, and turns billboards and screens into aggressively pulsating 3D structures. Will we, just like the protagonist, be able to rewrite ads in the future?
