I realized the correlation between my excessive engagement in online conversations and my feelings of emptiness, lack of purpose, distraction. If some kind of interesting thought would strike my mind, or some “unique” experience would occur, my natural instinct would be to hurry to my phone and share it online with others. I also believed that every text message I received naturally warranted a response. Witnessing the adverse effects of these behaviours, I began observing the mechanics and psychology by which I participated in online communication.
