GOGBOT FESTIVAL 2021

GOGBOT 2021 dives into the transformation of our information ecosystem in times of synthetic media, fake news, deep fakes, the rise of conspiracy theories, and more.
INFOCALYPSE NOW – Time to Recalibrate Reality is all about the boundaries between truth and falsehood, distinguishing three main lines: that of socially subversive disinformation campaigns and incorrectly designed or deployed algorithms; the human need to escape reality; and the vague borderline between the two, where fantasy and reality intertwine.
How do we as a society stay together in times when nothing is as it seems? Maybe we don’t have too much information for that, but too little.
Locations
This year the festival takes place at many locations in Enschede, such as Stationsplein, Metropool, Warp Technopolis, Sickhouse, TETEM, Concordia, Rijksmuseum Twenthe, Muziekcentrum and Wilminktheater.

Summary of GOGBOT
GOGBOT is an annual festival that takes over Enschede for four long days and nights in September: approximately 20,000 visitors are immersed in an extensive program full of avant-garde art, electronic music, and critical debate; with special attention to developments in new technology and creative industry. Art by international stars and young talent is presented in a series of complementary exhibitions and performances at primary locations in the city.
FAKE ME HARD x TEC ART x GOGBOT
Since 2014 PLANETART presents the GOGBOT sister festival TEC ART Rotterdam, during the Rotterdam Art Week in and around WORM. in 2021 we teamed up with NIET NORMAAL INT to produce the FAKE ME HARD manifestation at AVL Mundo.
FAKE ME HARD and GOGBOT are strongly connected in curating, research & development, relating to the urgency of big data, algorithms, A.I. deep fakes, conspiracy theories, and disinformation mass media in our post-truth society.
