USB monument is a multimedia installation about the primal relationship between human and tool. Like the first spearheads once played a key role in any human’s survival, so does the computer perform the same role in our age. This work exaggerates its status as a tool by turning it into a fragmented collection of concrete structures.
Each element is taken outside of its original context to both emphasize and destroy its practical nature. Tower like usb sticks host the complete collection of Glerum’s personal data. The installation randomly scavenges through the many memories and files as a display of some sacred process that both emphasizes the delicate nature of the information and turns it into a nonsensical practice.
