TRUUS DE GROOT

Plus Instruments

The Saturday night will feature none other than Truus de Groot, a trailblazer in the field of electronic music in the Netherlands. Truus de Groot started making music in the late 1970s, when she was part of the legendary experimental post-punk band Nasmak. She also sang for very briefly with Doe Maar, the band from Brabant that accidentally became teen idols. Soon she went solo under the name Plus Instruments. In the 1980s she was the first to deeply explore the so-called Cracklebox, an innovative noise instrument invented by the late Michel Waisvisz, director of the experimental electronic music center STEIM. Truus de Groot can handle many genres, and also makes film music, has several collaborations and projects underway, but at GOGBOT she will perform with Plus Instruments’ greatest hits.  De Groot has lived in the USA for almost 40 years, so it is a small miracle that she can come and perform with us in these corona times.
